What We Believe

What we believe

About The Bible:
We believe the Bible is the written revelation of God to man.  Every part of those 66 books is inspired by God through the work of the Holy Spirit.  The Bible is without error in the original manuscripts, has been carefully preserved throughout history, and is infallible in its teachings.  The Bible is the sole authority for faith and practice in every area to which it speaks.

About God:
We believe in one God who eternally exists in three persons, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  They are indivisible in essence and purpose, but distinguishable in their persons.  God is unchanging and sovereign.

About Jesus:
We believe that Jesus Christ is the second person of the Trinity. He has always existed as the eternal son of God and he became the son of man through the incarnation by means of the virgin conception when he was born of the virgin Mary.   He is both fully God and fully man.   Jesus died as the substitutionary sacrifice for all people’s sin, was buried and rose the third day to ascend to heaven where he is presently interceding for the believer before the father and from where he will someday return.

About the Holy Spirit:
We believe the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity, equal to the father and the son.  The Holy Spirit brings sinners to faith, assures believers of their forgiveness and acceptance as God’s dearly loved children, and works in them to conform them to the image of Jesus Christ. He indwells, empowers and gifts every believer.

About Humanity:
We believe that all people are created in God's image and so we all have great value in God's sight. However the image of God in man was marred, defaced beyond spiritual merit when mankind sinned. Sin brought both physical and spiritual death to the human race.  The condition of mankind now is that of sinner, separated from his creator, and in need to be reconciled to God through faith in God’s wonderful mercy and grace, demonstrated through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

About What Christ Did For Us:
We believe that forgiveness for our sin, and reconciliation to God is a gift we receive through faith and it cannot be earned by any human effort.  This is what we call, “salvation”.  We believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins and that He brings this salvation to all who trust in Him. Jesus physically rose bodily from the dead to impart His life to believers so that they might live through Him.

About The Church:
We believe the local church should be a witness to the those living around it and that without compromising Biblical absolutes, its ministry, worship, and teaching should creatively adapt to the particular culture it has been called to reach. We also believe in the unity of the local church and therefore reject an emphasis on, or teaching of, unclear doctrines in a way that causes division.

In Our Essential Beliefs –– We must have Unity

“There is one Body and one Spirit...there is one Lord, one faith, one baptism and one God and Father of us all...”
Ephesians 4:4-6 (NIV)

In Non-Essential Beliefs –– We will show Liberty

“Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters...  Who are you to judge someone else's servant?  To his own master he stands or falls...  So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God...So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God.”Romans 14: 1,4,12,22 (NIV)

In All Our Beliefs –– We Show Love
“...If I hold in my mind not only all human knowledge but also the very secrets of God, and if I have all the faith that can move mountains –– but have no love, I amount to nothing at all”   1 Corinthians 13:2
